The mission of Youth Leadership Collier (YLC)
is to develop ethical leaders committed to active
community involvement. YLC empowers students to
become effective leaders, showcase Collier County
and encourage students to consider coming back
to their community to begin their careers and
families. YLC intends to instill the values and
importance of community stewardship, helping youth
to create networks and resources within their
own community that will encourage involvement.

Youth Leadership Collier is a six-day intensive
program that begins with a weekend of team-building
activities. After the first weekend, participants
will interact in daily sessions designed to give
them first-hand experience in different aspects
of the community. Topics will include local government,
healthcare, business, and the arts.

The inspiration (and hard work) of a group of caring,
committed Chamber business members and community
leaders created Youth Leadership Collier and it
began its inaugural year in 2005.

The Youth Leadership Collier Program is open to
high school juniors entering their senior year.
Rather than choosing applicants based on GPA and
test scores, the selection committee will seek individuals
who demonstrate leadership qualities both inside
and outside the classroom.

Tuition: $500
This program is possible due to the generous donations
of those in our community committed to creating
strong future leaders. It costs the Leadership Collier
Foundation more than $2,500 to send a youth through
the program. Youth involved in the program pay only
$500 in tuition fees (and scholarships are available
to cover this cost for youth who cannot afford this
expense). This obviously leaves quite a deficit.
The program seeks sponsorship levels beginning at
$1,500 per youth, although any amount is welcomed
and so appreciated.
