Naples Backyard History will host their inaugural Christmas tradition with a Mr. & Mrs. Gingerbread Decorating Contest during the lighting of the 32nd Anniversary of Third Street South tree lighting. On the evening of November 24th, local restaurants on Third Street South and Crayton Cove will decorate a Gingerbread Couple, baked by Lorenzo Walker Culinary School, in the hopes of garnering the soon to be coveted People Choice Award. After Decmber 4th they will then be taken to area senior living homes on behalf of Girl Scout Troop 473 and Naples Backyard History. There will also be a 6 Ft tall Gingerbread Mater of Ceremonies for the Carol-okee and Christmas Duck Cookie Decorating. Children and parents will have a chance to participate in Carol-okee (Christmas Carols – karaoke style) as they are waiting to talk to Santa or waiting their turn to decorate their Christmas Duck cookie hosted by the Children’s Museum of Naples. Also children are invited to make their own gingerbread craft to hang on NBYH’s tree. There will be approximately 14 participating restaurants participating from both Third Street South and Crayton Cove areas. Sea Salt, Naples newest eatery on Third Street South, will also be participating along with Handsome Harry’s The Dock at Crayton Cove, Ridgeway’s Bar & Grill, Blue Province and The Cove Inn.
