Just
as Naples is blessed with theatrical and musical treasures,
so it offers visitors a boutique collection of intriguing
museums.
Art at the ‘Phil’
In fact, adjoining the Naples Philharmonic Center,
is the delightful Naples Art Museum. Their mission
is “to be a visual arts center for people of
all ages and backgrounds, to reflect the varied interests
and wishes – and to nourish the soul –
of our community.” The museum’s visual
arts center includes a three-story, 30,000-square-foot
museum with 15 galleries, a glass dome conservatory,
entrance gates by renowned metal artist Albert Paley,
spectacular chandeliers and a Persian ceiling by acclaimed
glass artist Dale Chihuly, a resource room and the
Museum Store.
The Von Liebig Art Center
The beautiful Von Liebig Art Center is a jewel of
old Naples. In May 1998, the Naples Art Association
announced the formation of a collection in order to
exhibit and interpret the work of American artists
from 1950 forward who exhibit periodically at The
von Liebig Art Center and on loan to other venues.
The purpose of this collection is to increase public
awareness and appreciation of the artistic legacy
of this unique region of Florida. Of special note
is the inclusion of work by Grace Lake, George Rogers
and Elsie Dorey Upham who founded the Naples Art Association
in 1954.
