Grace VanderMolen, Marketing, Services Optimization Specialist at Arthrex ![]() Today, I left Naples Botanical Garden feeling hopeful and motivated to not be complacent as an active citizen in SWFL. To see the active changes to ensure the long-term success of restoration resiliency has been eye opening. Today, we were able to see two life-long public servants, an economist ensuring that the hospitality industry thrives, a Sanibel native fisherman, and a man empowered by his passion of plants, seeds, and restoration to bring together the community; knowing the community can be the change.
I was sad when Chris explained the physical water and habitat changes coinciding with the personal struggles of fisherman over the last decade. But, I was hopeful when Drew passionately spoke about the infrastructure plans that echoes the SWFL Water Management mission of ecosystem restoration. I was proud to learn from Noah that our local University is not only providing the research on the impacts of water quality, but aggregating the data to use within the community to educate and present to stakeholders, and policy makers. I was excited when Chad presented the opportunities that we have as citizens to continue the restoration and education within our community and in our own backyard (literally!). Please share your experiences and observations with us too! As echoed by the panelists today, here are just a few ways to stay connected, be more educated, allow your voice to be heard, and ensure we will not be complacent citizens of this place we call Paradise!
