WORKFORCE TRAININGIt is estimated that Collier County will need more than 40,000 new jobs by 2030 to accommodate the county’s growing population. The Naples Chamber believes that investing in talent has a long-lasting impact on our community. Through partnerships with business, education and nonprofit leaders, the Chamber works to equip our workforce with the necessary skills to meet the needs of our current and future employers.
In 2018, the Chamber partnered with Collier County Public Schools to secure a $3 million workforce training grant from the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund. This grant allows Immokalee Technical College to expand its machining program at a centralized location and create a manufacturing apprentice program. Collier County’s seven-year, one-cent local option sales tax will provide funding for additional workforce training facilities. As part of the initiative, the county agreed to set aside $15 million to build a new career and technical training center. The Chamber is also committed to the mission of Future Ready Collier, which connects students to work-based learning experiences. The Chamber, along with a variety of community partners, is committed nurturing the talent emerging from Collier schools and post-secondary institutions, while educating employers on the value of hiring an intern.
