Naples Daily News Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award

Qualifications:
- Must live or work in Collier County.
- Must be a person (s) who has made significant impacts that are community changing for Collier County.
- Must be nominated by the deadline and include the nominator’s name.
- Persons currently serving in elected positions or whose recognition in the community is related directly to employment shall not be considered during the time of that employment.
- Former laureates are encouraged to make nominations, following process (see 3.) Except in the selection meeting, lobbying for candidates by former laureates is discouraged.
- There shall be no proxy votes.
- It is important that Information regarding the selection committee members and its process remain confidential. Confidentiality of the “Citizen” selection is critical to success!
- Must be willing to be photographed and interviewed for a story
Selection Process:
After welcoming nominations from the community, a small committee comprised of NDN staff, GNC staff and past winners will select the award recipient. The timeline is as follows:
February 24: Nomination form opens on GNC site and promoted in NDN
March 14: Nominations Close
March 17: Nomination details provided to committee
March 19: Committee selection
March 24: Public Announcement of Winner
April 13: Feature story in NDN
April 24: GNC Gala to honor
